The terms crop top and flattering outfit might not go hand in hand when you're piecing together the perfect summer wardrobe, but it could be time to reconsider the concept. Consider this styling trick, best employed recently by Alessandra Ambrosio. The supermodel stepped out in a crop top, nude heels, and a pair of high-waisted jeans that flared slightly below the knee. At first glance, this look just works—but let's break it down to understand why.
High-waisted jeans add length because they make legs appear to start from your waist, giving the illusion of a long line. The V-neck of the crop top elongates by drawing the eye vertically while its slightly shortened, fitted hem hits at the tiniest part of the waist (always a good thing!). And finally, we all know that nude pumps are the easiest way to lengthen legs.
