You may not know the name Lineisy Montero yet, but you've probably seen her (stunning) face. The 20-year-old Dominican Republic–born and –bred Montero has quickly become one of the most sought-after models in the industry, just 18 months after her runway debut (for Prada—NBD). In an exclusive profile for The Telegraph, it's noted that Montero's accomplishments include 61 shows in the F/W 16 season; campaigns for Chanel, Prada, and Givenchy (and you may recognize her as the star of Zara's S/S 16 campaign); and multiple covers. Carine Roitfeld even remarked that "everyone asks for her." Aside from that, Montero is a street style star in the making, thanks to her effortlessly cool and slightly androgynous look.
The beauty, scouted at an amusement park when she was 14 (her mom finally allowed her to sign with an agency at 18), is known for not only her confident smile but also her natural hair, about which Elle UK fashion features director Kenya Hunt says, "The timing was just right for the fashion world to be ready to embrace a black woman with an afro." The profile remarks that by choosing Montero, "[Prada casting director] Brokaw and designer Miuccia Prada ushered in a more inclusive runway vision." With the S/S 17 shows on the horizon, we fully expect to see a lot more of the reigning It model very soon.
