Gigi Hadid Bravely Wore the Latest Controversial Denim Trend

Gigi Hadid just arrived in Milan for fashion week, and her first outfit out of the gate has already blown us away. There's a brand-new denim trend on the scene, which we reported earlier this month after spotting it in Vogue, referred to as "demi-denim." Kiev-based designer Ksenia Shnaider created a two-in-one piece that's akin to wearing culottes over skinny jeans. And lo and behold, Hadid has given her stamp of approval by wearing a two-in-one denim style of her own: a miniskirt over a pair of destroyed jeans. She completed her version of the Canadian tuxedo with a denim jacket worn off the shoulder.

While Hadid's layered denim is attached, it's possible to re-create this look with separate jeans and a denim skirt (if her undeniably cool outfit has you convinced to give it a try, that is). Just make sure the jeans fit close to the body at the waist and the skirt is loose fitting (we suggest sizing up). Whether or not you're into the new layered denim look, you have to give Hadid props for taking risks and blazing a trail for new, polarizing trends.

Keep scrolling to see Gigi wearing the latest controversial denim trend, shop her two-in-one denim style, and shop two denim pieces that we think would layer beautifully.
