The one and only disparaging thing we have to say about shoes is pretty simple: They're just too damn expensive. It never fails—we can be in any store or on any e-commerce site, and we'll undoubtedly and unknowingly fall immediately in love with the pair with the highest price tag. (Oops.)
Luckily, at this exact moment in time, we are living in the most democratic period fashion has ever seen. Buying beautiful, well-designed things is no longer an experience reserved for the richest of the rich, society's most privileged—for better or worse, we all now have access to them.
