If you’re wearing flats, it’s best to choose a skirt or dress that’s above the knee. Showing a little extra leg is more flattering if you’re trying to lengthen your silhouette. Bonus if you choose a fit-and-flare style, which will nip you in at the waist and flow nicely over your curves.

While longer pants can work if you choose other items that are flattering (like a long coat), a cropped style is even better, because it draws attention to your ankle—which is one of the smallest parts of your body.
On Lauren Conrad: Ray-Ban sunglasses; Goyard tote; Vince sweater; LC Lauren Conrad Slipper Flats ($16).
A long layer creates a nice vertical line that naturally elongates your frame—whether you’re wearing flats or not. Wear a long layer (either a jacket or a vest if it’s warmer out), combined with cropped pants and you’ll look even slimmer!
