Among the trends that have thus far defined 2017, corsetry is at the top. But we're not talking Victorian-era corsets. We're talking wearable (i.e., non-constricting) lace-up details on belts, tops, dresses, trousers, and even jeans. Suffice to say, we were only mildly surprised when we realized that the corset trend has infiltrated yet another category: leggings.
If you thought the mesh panel or nude legging trends were provocative, the lingerie-inspired lace-up legging trend may be even more so. And trendsetting brands like Alo, Fenty by Puma, and Zara are already on board with it. In fact, Alo's latest collection consists entirely of interlace pieces, with sports bras, tops, and leggings that feature corset details up and down the entire length of the leg. We can already picture Bella Hadid or Kendall Jenner wearing them out at night and then to work out the next day. (We'll be sure to let you know if and when they do.) And if you want to try a pair for yourself, we recommend toning them down by pairing with old-school sneakers and a cool bomber or denim jacket.
