We all have those people on Instagram we idolize on the down-low, and I'm about to tell you about mine. Her name is Emili Sindlev, she is a stylist from Copenhagen, and she is hands-down one of my biggest fashion inspirations for more reasons than one. While perusing through street style shots during fashion week, I came across an image of a girl wearing this insanely cool cropped denim jacket, and I needed to know who she was. After doing some research, I came across Emili, and the rest was history.
One of the many things I admire about Emili's style is the fact that she consistently mixes high and low product to create her ultra-cool, street style–ready outfits. She wears everything from Zara to Topshop to other affordable brands from all over the world that you and I now have the pleasure of knowing. There is something about seeing these various affordable items on her versus on the site that makes them so much more approachable. For example, she wore this gingham skirt from Zara that when I had originally seen it online I thought to myself, I don't know how to style this, so I passed. A few days later, Emili wore it and naturally styled it in the most amazing way, meaning I instantly went back to Zara and bought the exact skirt.
However, what I have to say I admire most about this stylish woman beyond the fact that she still incorporates fast-fashion and affordable items into her wardrobe, is that she even does it as an established and well-known fashion icon. I know that there is nothing wrong with keeping to a budget, shopping at Zara, and participating in trends, but sometimes, it's nice to be reminded that even the most well-acclaimed fashion girls do all those things too. At the end of the day, I guess they are just like us after all.
Go on to see some of my favorite images of Emili Sindlev wearing affordable items you can shop right now.
This sweatshirt will make any outfit pop. I love how she styled it with a plaid skirt and festive tights. This is the perfect example of an outfit I would have never originally thought to put together, but now I want to copy it immediately.
Maybe pink tights and red boots aren't for everyone, but red boots on their own? Now that's something I can get on board with. And guess what? They're from Topshop.
Zara came out with this whole collection of pearl-based clothing, and initially, I was on the fence. When I later saw this skirt on Emili, I was quickly converted.
Statement earrings are definitely having a moment right now, and Emili clearly doesn't mess around when it comes to this trend. These kitschy dangles from & Other Stories take her already incredible outfit to another level.
Once you see this plaid ASOS shirt on the model, you will be shocked that they are even the same thing. Emili's styling technique from her matching yellow socks to the way she shows off her sleeves underneath her blazer will convince you to buy this shirt ASAP.
What was once an everyday floral Topshop dress is now the coolest styling piece we've seen this spring. A dress over jeans has never looked so easy or so interesting.
This is the Zara skirt I raved about previously. Thanks to this look here, I now own one of my favorite skirts.
Nike sneakers are nothing new, but when they are styled with a punchy graphic tee and white jeans, they look extremely fresh.
Thanks to this gem, I am now obsessed with Hosbjerg, a brand from Denmark. Click to the next slide to see just how affordable this amazing blazer is.
Thank you, Emili. Yes, I definitely need a Topshop gingham top to wear to my next breakfast outing. And don't worry, red pants will be included.
