If you're anything like us, after you finished celebrating and ringing in 2017 in style, you probably made some resolutions for the New Year. If any of yours have to do with career goals, you've come to the right place, because we have industry advice straight from an expert in the field. Audrey Okulick, founder of fashion recruiting agency The Workshop LA, gave us the scoop on the best (and worst) times this year to look for a new job.
"The busiest time of year for fashion companies hiring new people is January through March," said Okulick. "Companies have approved budgets for new hires and are ready to pull the trigger on the right candidates." She noted that things then tend to quiet down through July, as new employees are settling in and there are only a few openings here and there. Fear not, though, because things heat up again come August. "Industry-related trade shows like Project and Liberty in Vegas and Coterie in NYC take place and need staff," she reminded us. "Then fashion week in NYC kicks off in September, and companies want to be fully staffed for this busy time." Finally, things slow down again around the holidays before the cycle begins anew the following year.
So if you're ready to take the leap into the next phase of your career, now is the time to get busy applying. We suggest you check out The Workshop LA's Instagram for some of the latest openings.
