4 Reasons These New Leggings Are Better Than Any Pair You've Owned

Erin Fitzpatrick

If you thought you couldn't possibly need another pair of leggings, you might want to reconsider. Fashionista introduced us to a new brand, Girlfriend Collective, which is set to officially launch in September. So what makes these leggings so special?

Firstly, as Fashionista reported, Girlfriend Collective is giving out free leggings to help generate buzz for the brand ahead of its launch. The only catch? You have to pay $19.95 for shipping (more on that later).

Besides the giveaway deal, three other factors caught our eye about the brand: its direct-to-consumer business model that keeps prices low, the fact that it uses material from recycled plastic bottles, and its fair-trade practices.

The brand's FAQ explains the fair-trade element and how it factors into the $19.95 figure: Shipping costs so much because items are sent straight from the brand's SA8000-certified manufacturer in Vietnam—that means it's regulated to ensure fair employee wages and safe conditions. (Once the brand officially launches, however, shipping costs will be much lower.)

Intrigued? Head over to Fashionista to learn more about the brand, and visit Girlfriend Collective's website to redeem the leggings offer.
