Brown Is the Colour Du Jour—Here Are 6 Colours That Actually Work With It
Sure, we all love black—it's the easiest colour to wear, right? As it turns out, though, brown is just as versatile, and some of the most stylish women seem to be replacing their usual black items (a dress, jacket, skirt or jumper) in favour of brown shades this season. While a lot of people consider brown to be an "ugly" colour, chocolatey tones feel rich, luxurious and it just so happens to work so well with so many other hues. So what's not to love?
If you want to give brown a go, but unsure what to actually style it with, we've decoded the colours to try with brown—and these are the 6 colour combinations you're guaranteed to want to try out for autumn/winter.
1. Blue
Style Notes: Linda proves how chocolate works so well with a dusty shade of blue. Who Knew?
Shop the look:
Collared knits are key this season.
You can also get the matching blazer to style as a suit.
2. Black
Style Notes: Yes, we've told you how "brown is the new black", but you can actually team the two together for an effortless combination that totally works.
Shop the look:
You could easily wear this with a chunky black jumper and tights.
3. Pastel Yellow
Style Notes: Forever a ray of sunshine, Zeena makes a case for pale yellow (how great is this coat?) with caramel. And why not even throw in hot pink for good measure?
Shop the look:
4. Khaki
Style Notes: How cool is this outfit from top-to-toe? Renia teams her Balenciaga Le Cagole boots with a brown midi, classic white tee and oversized khaki puffer. And it works seamlessly.
Shop the look:
5. Hot Pink
Style Notes: A fun way to try out brown is with leopard print. If you dare, team it with a hot pink knit. Want to make it slightly more minimal? Wear with a tonal beige outfit and just add a pink bag.

6. White
Styles Notes: For a fail-safe option, add rich brown shades to white separates. Sylvie shows how to do it with a leather jacket and knit midi—just add tall boots once it gets colder.
