This New York Designer Deserves a Knighthood for Inventing a Wine-Cooler Handbag
With New York Fashion Week underway, fashion folk have their eyes fixed on the runway ready to spot the It pieces poised to hit our wardrobes next year. As always, amongst the good, the bad and the "ugly," there's the surreal, and for S/S 19, our serving of weirdness comes from American fashion designer Brandon Maxwell. Following up on last season's transparent bag trend, Maxwell sent a model down the runway clutching a Perspex bag that contained a bottle of bubbly.
Naturally the blogging crowd went wild for the accessory, which also featured a gold initial fastening, gold handle and knotted initialled silk scarf. It might not be the most practical piece around right now, but anything that combines fashion and wine is never a bad thing in our books. Our 2019 picnic plans suddenly look a whole lot chicer. Scroll down to see the look and our roundup of the best bags from NYFW.
Style Notes: Brandon Maxwell created this crowd-pleaser by combining the Perspex bag trend with, well, a wine cooler. It's a yes from us.
The Other Bags We Love
Style Notes: Monse proves rope bags are sticking around for next summer. This time they come in a slouchier crossbody style.
Style Notes: Tibi channels greyscale minimalism with this roomy tote. Take note of the way the model holds it. The Victoria Beckham bag clutch is back.

Style Notes: Another sizable style (big bags are having a moment) from Self-Portrait. This floral bag looks part shopper, part bindle (look it up), and is both chic and practical.
Style Notes: Animal print + mini size + crossbody style = Wild West–inspired perfection. Bravo, Ralph Lauren.
Style Notes: Claudia Li offers her own twist on the doctor's bag with this rectangular tote.
Style Notes: Thought last season's bags were small? Think again. Brandon Maxwell shrunk his mini bags down to matchbox size for spring/summer 2018.
Style Notes: Bum-bag lovers rejoice because according to Escada, the trend is still cool for summer 2019. We love how this model wears her across the body.
