These Are the 10 Items We'll All Be Wearing in 2020, According to Net-a-Porter

Every season, Net-a-Porter presents its very own trend report, which details precisely the items it predicts will be all the rage for the coming season. Past prophecies include The Row's minimal-strap sandals, Sleeper's relaxed dresses, and Chloé's C bag—all of which proved to be correct. Essentially, if Net-a-Porter deems it worthy of our attention, it most likely is.

Which is why we've been pouring over its latest trend forecast, this time for spring/summer 2020. While still top-line as opposed to product-specific, this insight gives us an accurate depiction of what we can expect to see in fashion girls' wardrobes over the course of the next few months. 

So excited are we for what's to come that we've decided to share with you the 10 trends Net-a-Porter is backing for next year. From the revival of a dress we've overlooked for far too long to the natty wardrobe basics that will give us way more outfit mileage than most other garments, keep scrolling to discover the top trends of 2020, according to Net-a-Porter. 1. THE SHORT SUIT

Having enjoyed major success with short suits last summer, Net-a-Porter has revealed it has bought into them in a big way for 2020, with 100 different options incoming.

2. THE WAISTCOAT

As seen at the likes of Burberry, Saint Laurent and Nili Lotan, the waistcoat is set to be one of 2020's must-have buys. 

3. BERMUDA SHORTS

Having been given the runway seal of approval by Bottega Veneta, Net-a-Porter has gone gung-ho with Bermuda shorts. With 30% more set to grace its landing pages than last year, if you didn't buy into the trend in 2019, you'll certainly want to reconsider it next year. 

4. THE POLO TOP

Net-a-Porter is convinced that the polo top is going to become the new alternative to button-down shirts and blouses this summer coming, having invested in over 1100 units of them. 

5. THE NEXT-GEN TRENCH

Trenches are a year-round staple that Net-a-Porter continuously invests in. For 2020, its spotlighting key details that differentiate them from the classic camel iterations. Think contrast-buttons, tie-sleeves and clashing panels. 

6. THE CANADIAN TUXEDO

Consisting of a top and trousers both in denim, the Canadian Tuxedo was evident on the runways of so many designer brands, including Celine and Brandon Maxwell. Net-a-Porter has bought into the separates, as it expects its clientele to wear it in the same way. 

7. THE MINIDRESS

The mini has taken a bit of a back seat to midi hemlines for the past few seasons, but after Versace opened its show with not one, not two, but three minis, it's safe to say thigh-grazing frocks are back. Net-a-Porter agrees, with 300 styles set to land starting in the New Year. 

8. THE WEAR-WITH-EVERYTHING TURTLENECK

It might not sound all that exciting, but Net-a-Porter predicts our obsession with roll-necks will continue well into spring, with varying thicknesses and hues coming through to suit the changing seasons. 

9. THE TANK TOP

Set to replace the need for T-shirts, Net-a-Porter is confident that the tank is all you need to look on-trend in 2020, with 60 options from the likes of Isabel Marant and The Range ready to start dropping soon. 

10. THE MEN'S SHIRT

This coming season will see the reprise of the men's shirt. Oversized, longline and incredibly versatile, Net-a-Porter recommends keeping things classic in white, taupe and Oxford blue tones.
