26 Blunt Bobs That Are Making Me Completely Rethink Having Long Hair
Instantly editorial.

Let me start by saying that I have no fear when it comes to my hair. Like a true Aries, I’ve sheared it to my chin in a fit of inspiration, impulsively cut (and adored) swooping ‘90s bangs, and recently let it grow longer than ever. That said, my lengthy tresses are finally starting to weigh me down, and one of 2026’s hottest (and sharpest!) haircut trends is slowly starting to sing its siren song.
“Classic for a reason, the blunt bob is going to continue its reign as a go-to hairstyle in 2026,” celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos previously told Who What Wear. This timeless shear is one of the easiest ways to make everything below the neck look chic, though celebs with signature sharp bobs like Kelly Rowland and Lily Collins have made cases for the shoulder-pad-and-high-neck combo. Giannetos describes this sleek, straight crop as “blunt, smooth, and high fashion—perfect for someone wanting a chic chop.”
What is a Blunt Bob?
Since the 1920s, bobs have always been the moment. However, it’s not until the 21st century that we see stylized haircuts overshadow styling, like flapper-esque finger waves and ‘50s roller curls. With the ever-changing trendscape fueled by social media and celebrities, modern iterations like the “c*nty little bob” popularized by The White Lotus’s Leslie Bibb—cropped sharply below the ear—and Zendaya’s old Hollywood “bixie” (read: bob-slash-pixie) kick things up a notch.
Hairstylist stylist and Oribe global artist Mandee Tauber previously described the blunt bob as a “one-length, clean-lined cut” meant to accentuate shine and make a bold statement. “Falling at chin or shoulder length, it’s the blueprint for the trendy Italian bob,” she added. While most blunt bobs are typically cut on a severe line and styled straight to showcase the meticulous craftsmanship (and deliver a “don’t mess with me” energy), Tauber explains that you can easily still achieve a variation of this look with diffused, softer ends for a more casual look.
Depending on your face shape, a sharper bob at certain lengths could serve you better than a softer version and length. Tauber explained that blunter and shorter bobs flatter “oval and heart-shaped faces especially well,” whereas a longer “lob” version will better suit square or rounded faces “by elongating the silhouette.” I could spew for another 50 lines about the different types of blunt bobs, but I’d rather show you. Below, the 26 blunt bobs that are making me want to chop it all off.
26 Blunt Bobs Ideas to Save
Margot Robbie chopped her blonde tresses—grown long for the filming of and press run for Wuthering Heights—into this edgy, blunt bob. I'm obsessed with her wispy fringe and laid-back, Aussie beach waves that still feel polished.
Rowland will never not serve hairspo. Her sleek, shiny strands are polished into a slight curve at the end that defines the jaw in a sharp and sophisticated way.
While blunt bobs are often styled with pin-straight locks, Selena Gomez demonstrates a gorgeous way to wear this cut with soft, romantic curls. This Old Hollywood-inspired style from the Rare Beauty founder's wedding day looks sculpted without feeling stiff.
Who better to look to for blunt bob-spo than Collins? Her sleek style at the Calvin Klein F/W 26 show looks classic without feeling too severe—a hard line to balance, but one the Emily in Paris star toes beautifully.
This look proves that the blunt bob can only be improved by the addition of beautiful braids.
Euphoria star Maude Apatow's voluminous bob is a masterclass in retro styling that still feels fresh.
Tyla's hair looks are never short of iconic, but this braided curly bob lives in my mind rent-free. Her voluminous ends showcase how easy it is to shape blunt cuts into fun styles aside from simple, straight ones.
Khloé Kardashian's ultra-sleek, infinitely blunt bob is the definition of glamour.
I'll never forget Paloma Elsesser's wet-looking, high-fashion bob at the 2024 Met Gala.
Hailey Bieber will forever be one of my biggest sources of hair inspo, and this chic half-up, half-down hairstyle (with the adorable flip at the ends!) is officially on my special occasion mood board.
How I love a wavy bob, blunt ends, and a micro bang.
Gomez proves that blunt bobs look extra chic when deeply side parted and extra-glossed.
Further proof that a sleek, sharply styled bob is the chicest accessory.
Bieber's unfussy bob shows just how relaxed this clean cut can look.
I love how dimensional a blonde bob with highlights looks—especially when tucked behind the ear and paired with an asymmetrical neckline.
Fashion influencer Grece Ghanem softened her blunt style by curling her short crop under her ears, adding a romantic, soft touch to her athleisure 'fit.
The ear-grazing curly chop is for the brave, but it offers gorgeous payoff to anyone who takes the plunge.
If you're not quite ready to chop a super short bob but still want to partake in the fun, try this angled lob instead. It involves the same sharp edge, just at a collarbone-grazing length.
It's love at first sight when it comes to Laura Harrier's textured, curly bob.
To be perfectly honest, I haven't stopped thinking about Joey King's sleek, flapper-esque "Prada bob" (named by her stylist, Giannetos) since these pics dropped nearly two years ago.
Your blunt bob can involve equally sharp bangs, you know. I'm always looking to Amy Lefévre for inspiration on that front.
Julianne Hough has cemented the blunt bob as her signature look, and this dramatically coiffed style is an instant head-turner.
Kerry Washington's iced espresso waves, tinted with the subtlest caramel highlights, feature a blunt cut with more diffused edges.
IMO, there's nothing chicer than a bob that curls in towards your lip line.
This look from Lucy Hale is the very definition of glass hair. Plus, the subtle feathering at the front is a great way to add some flattering shape.
Vanessa Hudgens's blunt lob is giving me all of the inspo, and I need to know what products she's using to get that shine.
Blunt Bob Styling Tips
Hydrate and Protect
Ask any hairstylist, and they’ll tell you that heat protection is paramount when working with short styles—especially blunt bobs, which require daily styling. “Healthy, glossy hair will keep your style looking just as it did when you left the salon,” Giannetos previously explained. The celebrity stylist goes on to recommend incorporating hydrating hair masks and smoothing serums into your styling regimen to maintain salon-level gloss.
Restore Shine
After heat styling, whether with a round brush and hair dryer or flat iron, you’ll want to run a few small drops of a restorative hair oil or styling serum to give your hair an instant boost of shine—accentuating that sleek, blunt chop of yours. Below are a few of my tried-and-true favorites.
