I was just at Miami Swim Week, wearing my Gimaguas x Havaianas sandals to every show, and every editor I was on the trip with clocked them immediately. The collaboration went viral on TikTok the second it was announced, and because you can’t actually buy them anywhere yet, people have literally started making DIY versions with pushpins and Old Navy flip-flops. But even before this wave of popularity (and before the shoes were seen on Kylie Jenner), Gimaguas was already a favorite brand of mine and my friends’.
If you like Paloma Wool, you’ve probably gone down the same rabbit hole of looking for adjacent labels with a similar aesthetic. That’s how I found Gimaguas a few years ago. It’s minimalist with a fun, artful twist; kind of like PW’s more colorful, beachy cousin. The brand name translates to “twins" in Spanish and was started by twin sisters Claudia and Sayana Durany in 2018. Everything’s made in Spain by artisans, which makes the clothes feel like special, one-of-a-kind pieces.
Even if the flip-flops aren’t available commercially right now, you can still shop the rest of the collection on the brand’s website, Ssense, or Shopbop.
