When it comes to activewear, I am a total creature of habit. I rarely switch up from my usual black long sleeve, black leggings, and (you guessed it) black running shoes. Functional? Yes, but a bit boring nonetheless. With the weather warming up and New Yorkers taking their workouts back outside, I've noticed that people are putting as much effort into their activewear looks as they are their 9-5s. Funnel-neck windbreakers, cool layering pieces, and flared leggings are just a few of the on-trend pieces I've spotted, specifically on my coworker Eliza Huber. She is my fashion and fitness inspiration, prioritizing both in her everyday life in New York City. To see the pieces she's working out in this season, keep reading. (Spoiler: They're all from FP Movement.)

What is your favorite form of movement?

Eliza Huber: I like to diversify my workouts as much as possible, but mat Pilates is my current fixation. I go three to four times a week with two different instructors, and some classes are heated and some are not. I love how mindful mat Pilates classes are—you really need to get the form exactly right to feel it and see results, which allows me to get out of my head before busy work days. When dressing for these classes, I reach for leggings with a high waist and a comfortable feel that'll stay in place. I hate readjusting in class—time is of the essence, and I don't want to waste any of it messing around with an uncomfortable pair of leggings. My pick? The Never Better 7/8 Length Leggings ($98) from FP Movement.

How do you maintain your personal style while wearing activewear or athleisure?

This is actually very important to me. In order for me to do anything, whether it's work or working out, I need to wear something that reflects my personal style and tastes. Nothing will take me out of a workout faster than wearing something that feels off or uncomfortable. To ensure that's always the case, I stick with the same color palette for my activewear as I do for my everyday looks. Think navy, black, and white. For instance, I recently layered the FP Movement Happiness Runs Scoop Neck Bra ($30) in white underneath the same bra in black to add a touch of style to my morning Pilates look. I wore them with the Never Better Foldover Pants ($108) and Havaianas Slim Square Flip Flops ($34) in butter yellow.

When it comes to gym shoes, I only really buy them in all white or all black—color rarely makes an appearance unless it's very subtle (like butter yellow). I also lean heavily on outerwear and accessories, like FP Movement's chic new funnel-neck windbreaker or a cool hairpin. When I look my best and feel the most like myself, I know I'll have a great workout and can go about my day feeling confident and accomplished.

What is a nonnegotiable for you when it comes to activewear?

Comfort is key for me when working out. I have tried so many brands for fitness attire and learned exactly how I like my leggings, shorts, and sports bras to feel when I move, depending on the workout. I'm a runner, so when I run, I want shorts that let my legs move freely. I love the Stinger Shorts ($48) from FP Movement because they're free-flowing but also have built-in spandex that provides the perfect amount of coverage, so I can stretch and move without feeling exposed. Bras are the same—I don't need a ton of support up top, but I like to be held in without feeling constrained. It's a fine line, but one FP Movement walks effortlessly with styles like the Can't Lose Bra ($38).
