The Skin-Baring Trend That Me, Celebs, and Fashion Girls Can't Stop Wearing
When trends hit the runway, it’s a pretty solid indication that they will be everywhere in 6 months. Sometimes, they can be challenging to wear in real life so aren’t embraced by retailers or on the street style scene. When fashion insiders or celebs endorse them with their latest stream of outfits, though, it solidifies the trend as one that will translate from the runway to real life. And that’s exactly what is happening right now with the exposed bra trend. While it sounds tricky to pull off IRL, there has been plenty of evidence that it’s about to blow up.
Ahead, I’m breaking down the trend from where it started on the runway at shows like Givenchy for the S/S 20 season, as well as Jacquemus for their F/W 20 show. Then, see cool, wearable ways to pull it off with outfit ideas from the street style scene, the celeb set, and even myself.

My interpretation:
I love the idea of layering a leather bra top underneath a matching pantsuit like I'm wearing here. I've also been a huge fan of tucking trousers into knee-high boots, which is a great way to balance out the skin-baring element on top.

How celebs are wearing the bra top trend:
Instead of a full suiting look, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley opted for a blazer but swapped in split-hem leggings—another rising trend we'll be seeing everywhere this spring.

This outfit nails five major trends at once: the exposed bra, leather Bermuda shorts, a boxy blazer, ankle-strap heels, and a gold chain necklace.
