Which NYE nail designs are on the rise?
If you're wondering which elegant manicure to create from the comfort of home or request from your nail tech, what better way to find out than by asking an expert? London-based nail artist and content creator Jessica White predicts this year's most popular looks will be marked by a shift toward refined sparkles, metallic details, chrome accents, and micro-shimmer finishes, which feel more elevated than the full-coverage glitter of previous years. She also foresees jewel tones with a reflective topcoat being on the rise. "Rich reds, midnight blues, and emerald greens paired with a soft chrome sheen feel very current for NYE," says White.
In the past, New Year's Eve nails embraced maximalism, chunky glitter, bold foils, and lots of texture. For 2026, the most stylish people from coast to coast will be wearing statement nails with cleaner lines that focus on dimension rather than density. "I'm already starting to see a festive shift to thin metallic outlines and subtle sparkle gradients that catch the light without overwhelming the whole set," she explains. Year after year, gold accents have returned to popularity, and White tells us the tradition will continue. "It's the one shade that instantly feels festive without dating the look," White explains.
In addition to the classic gold that pops up around this time of year, she says silver chrome motifs and timeless black shimmer will make a comeback since "they photograph beautifully and work with every outfit." French tips will also be experiencing a revival this year, but in 2026, she's expecting white tips to be swapped for a metallic edge.
What are the best products to use?
Using the right products to create your at-home manicure will ensure that your New Year's Eve nail look will last well past midnight. White recommends using a fine-shimmer topcoat to elevate colors without adding weight to the design. "A good chrome powder is also worth having, and you can use it over any shade to create that soft mirror effect that's everywhere right now," she says. For longevity, using a strong builder gel on your nails can help extend their wear time, which is especially useful during winter, when your nails can be more fragile.
Now that you know which polishes, powders, and treatment to keep on deck to kick off 2026, keep reading to discover the top nail designs we're plotting to re-create for all our New Year's Eve plans.
Toasted Caramel
Dubbed toasted caramel, this glowing shade takes center stage in nail artist Queenie Nguyen's viral manicure. It combines golden brown with a soft velvet finish that catches the light just so.
Chrome Tips
In case you missed it, chrome details are officially in for all your New Year's Eve moments. We'll be taking notes from this stunning nail look by White using OPI polish in Love Is in the Bare ($17) and Put It in Neutral ($12).
Warm Rosewood
A warm red-brown like Bio Sculpture's Rosewood Stardust ($15) is a go-to for manicurist Julia Diogo. Before coating the nails with polish, she prepped her client's nails with Navy Professional beauty tools.
Silver Micro-French
Nguyen created this micro-French manicure by pairing warm latte with silver shimmer added to the tips for a modern twist on the classic French-inspired nail design. It's clean and polished with a whisper of glam.
Champagne Chrome
Mateja Novakovic is the queen of chrome manicures for short nails, and this champagne look exudes elegance. This was created using a sheer pink with a chrome powder on top for some extra shimmer.
Cinnamon Cat Eye
Glowing cinnamon and a cat-eye design are practically begging to be paired, and this look Zola Ganzorigt created for Hailey Bieber is the stuff of dreams. It uses OPI's Cliffside Karaoke and velvet magnifying powder.
Spiced Cherry
Red makes a comeback in the latter half of the year, so why not wear it to start the first part of it in style? White tells us that bright shades like this one are the perfect choice for counting down the minutes, as proven by this nail look she created.
Gold-Dipped Tips
Silver chrome details instantly scream New Year's Eve, but we can't forget about the magic of adding gold touches in unexpected ways. These nails by Iram Shelton are simple and delicate with gold micro-French tips.
Brown Velvet
Velvet nails have been on our inspiration board for a while, but Nguyen's most recent light-catching caramel manicure has us officially dreaming of champagne toasts and cocktail dresses.
Forest Green
White tells us that jewel tones are the perfect way to take the season's nail trends into the new year. In 2026, we'll be opting for nail polish shades like the one used in this forest-green manicure created by Christiana Hooks.
Transitional Touch
If you aren't ready just yet to say goodbye to the full chrome nail looks that have dominated the holiday season so far, try adding a clean, neutral base. Ganzorigt shows us how it's done with this transitional silver manicure.
Iridescent Shine
White tells us that this year's most popular New Year's Eve manicures will be less decadent that we've seen in past years, with dainty details that are just as on-trend weeks after the night's festivities have passed.
Abstract Tips
Minimalist and sleek, this manicure incorporates one of the biggest trends we've seen everywhere over the past few months: chrome French tips. It combines a soft nude base with futuristic details in silver chrome.
Subtle Details
This crisp green manicure is finished with a sprinkling of delicate gems to add elegance to a simple nail look for New Year's Eve. Novakovic used Manucurist's Green Natural Nail Polish in Jade ($14) to bring it to life.
Manicure Essentials
Ideal for natural, artificial, and press-on nails, this strong nail glue is designed to make sticking gems and jewels onto the nail bed effortless. With the help of LED light, your dazzling art can last for up to two weeks.

Polish Shades
Londontown's jade green with splash of licorice looks especially stunning in the winter. It offers gel-like wear and shine with a formula that leaves nails moisturized and strong.
