Home to Hollywood, we can't deny that the thought of crossing paths with our favourite movie or sitcom star is just one major factor for choosing L.A. as a holiday destination. But that's not the only activity that's worthwhile in the City of Angels. We tapped up the fashion girls in the Who What Wear office in L.A. on what we should do, see, and wear next time we're in the area and happily they gave us some excellent tips.

Whether experiencing the delicious burgers from In-N-Out, heading to a SoulCycle class, checking out the incredible vintage shopping at The Rose Bowl, heading out on a wholesome Hollywood Hills hike or a day trip to the beach, there are so many things to check off our list. Seeing as nearly all of these activities mean we'll be spending the majority of our time outdoors, some serious eyewear is definitely needed for all that sunshine. Happily, new season Gucci is here to help us with that.

A sunny morning. hike is just about as classic as it gets in L.A. We’re not particularly biased as to which trail we go for; just know that any that leads you to the Hollywood sign (or boasts a view of the ocean throughout) comes highly recommended. And for such an event, you could wear boring black leggings and aviator shades, but apparently L.A.’s fashion girls are going bolder right now.

Biker shorts are clearly the new leggings (even better if they’re in a neon hue that feels very 1991), especially when paired with oversized layers (bonus points for a touch of tie-dye). Bright tinted sunnies will finish off any look: It’s a really tough tie between this tinted ski goggle–esque pair and these fluorescent orange frames. Both will look great in your photo at the peak of the mountain (preferably captioned "started from the bottom now we’re here”).

For less-active occasions—say, lounging in a park reading, snacking, or napping (our favourite)—more vintage-inspired eyewear feels especially good teamed with this season’s major It prints, like checks or Hawaiian that everyone loves right now. Whether you’re firmly team classic black frames or more about these geometric metal sunglasses, you can’t go wrong with a slightly retro feel, so says our intel.

With traffic in L.A. being undeniably awful, Angelenos tend to leisurely complete just one errand at a time. Which is fine: The task of purchasing a fiddle-leaf fig plant (our sources tell us it's compulsory in every Venice Beach living room) certainly shouldn’t be rushed. While there’s no required outfit for running said errands, this off-duty look is easily nailed with ’70s-inspired shades. L.A. girls love a clever colour combo so we're very into the trick of pairing pink-hued accessories with green, especially when it comes in the form of this vintage cat blouse and tweed houndstooth miniskirt.

Still thinking about those neon-orange sunglasses? We've got really good news: Neon is trending, so of course Gucci came through with this key style in slime green and punchy pink, which is ideal for hanging out by the side of the pool or in your backyard (AKA, garden). Complete your full throwback-look here with a retro-style red swimsuit (complete with embellishments) or a fun fringed tank that’s really just another excuse to get into this season’s favourite prints.

Wondering how the cool crowd in L.A. winds down their days? Ideally it involves a rooftop, the Hollywood Hills rising up behind you, and the kind of style that gives the impression that you may or may not forever reside at a hotel. Luxe-yet-relaxed pieces worn over swimwear seem to say, "I wasn’t expecting you! Yet the champagne is chilled because I’m simply never not ready to entertain.” If you foresee yourself in this situation in the near future, please do us a favour and throw on these flawless grey acetate sunglasses and you'll always be glamorous enough to welcome guests.
