It Took 2 Years for Taylor Swift to Give Us This Outfit

Taylor Swift’s been in and out of the spotlight lately. She only performed live once in 2017, shook us all when Reputation dropped in November, and now the singer-songwriter is well into her latest tour. But tonight, for her first red carpet appearance in two years, you might say there was some added pressure to make a good impression. So how’d she do?

Swift arrived in an intricate pale pink Versace number with a high leg slit and asymmetric shoulders. It featured tons of feathery details and crystals that made it shine a little extra. Also a little extra? The time it took to create the custom dress. As People reports, Versace teased out a photo of the dress weeks ago on Instagram stories saying, "This gown took more than 800 hours to bring to life.”

In truth, while Swift's come a long way in the past couple years, her look tonight resembles the old Taylor—the embellishments harken to her dress from the British Style Awards in 2015, while the silhouette is similar to that of the dress she wore to the Elle Style Awards the same year. Sure, tonight proved that the artist has come a very long way in two years, but we suspect some classic Swift style habits have stuck around.
