Los Angeles-based denim house RE/DUN has launched its new High-Rise jean in a campaign starring ultimate cool-girl Erin Wasson. According to the brand’s co-founder, Sean Barron, the higher cut is RE/DUN's first "fashion fit" and it’s expected to be their best-selling style. Scroll through to learn more about the brand (plus see pics of the new jeans!), and read our exclusive interview Barron.
Tell us about the High-Rise. Compared to RE/DUN's other two styles, what are the major design differences besides the higher waistline? Are they tailored throughout the thighs/legs as well?
The High-Rise is our first “fashion fit.” The front seam is 11.5 inches, and runs narrower in the hips. The leg and length are the same as our Straight Skinny fit.
What was your inspiration to design the High-Rise as your next fit?
We felt it was time to introduce a new RE/DUN fit. It’s a super relevant style right now, and when you fit a high-rise correctly you get a better butt!
The High-Rise is launching exclusively at Barneys in February—will this launch be online or in-store? Are you planning on selling at any other department stores?
Yes, Barneys is launching the High-Rise along with our other fits. They are our only retail touch-point in the USA. We’ll be launching in Selfridges in the spring in the UK.
How do your sizes typically run?
We run very true to size. Since there is no stretch in the denim, it will feel tight at first, but after a couple hours of wearing, they’ll loosen up to fit perfectly. Our rule of thumb: If you’re not uncomfortable when you first put them on, go down a size.
Do you have a favorite spot to source the original jeans?
All over the U.S. We love the jeans that come from Texas and all over the South especially—they always have more history and storytelling to them.
Describe the ultimate RE/DUN girl. What's her style like?
She’s a girl who embraces her individuality, someone with amazing and effortless style.
Besides the brand’s cult following of models, who would you love to see in a pair of RE/DUN jeans?
Everyone always gives the standard answer to this—Kate Moss, etc. But the truth is that every day we’re seeing amazing, real girls buying our jeans and posting on Instagram.
Lastly, what’s next for RE/DUN? Do you have any upcoming projects you can share with us?
We have tons of things cooking. We can’t tell you about most yet. HINT: The perfect classic tee and men’s jeans are coming soon…
Make sure to head over to RE/DUN to snag a pair before they sell out, and tell us in the comments below: How do you really feel about high-rise jeans?
