J.Lo's New Skincare Line Is Dropping January 1—Here's the Glow-Inducing Lineup

Ever since the world found out singer, actress, and glow extraordinaire Jennifer Lopez had her very own beauty line in the works, the industry has been abuzz with hypotheses and gossip. Would J.Lo's namesake brand be makeup? Hair? Skincare? All of the above?! Our radiance-obsessed minds have been swimming with guesses for months, and as of today, we can officially spill the beans. JLo Beauty (which officially launches on January 1, 2021) features a starring lineup of sparkling rose gold–gilded skincare, and each of the eight products is intended to deliver Lopez's sought-after dewy complexion, bottled, right to your vanity.

We'll dive into each of the formulas below, but to satisfy your thirst before you pass out, you can expect to shop a cleanser, serum, mask, SPF, face cream, skin-loving dietary supplement, eye cream, and complexion booster. Despite the fact Lopez receives just as much attention for her timeless beauty esthetic as she does for her remarkable talents (singing, dancing, acting… The list goes on and on), she's remained notoriously tight-lipped regarding her specific product and treatment regimen. And after I had the (very) exciting opportunity to join a group of fellow beauty editors to chat with Lopez firsthand via Zoom just last week, it became pretty apparent why—JLo Beauty wasn't an off-the-cuff or opportunistic burst of entrepreneurship from the star. No, no. It's been a 20-years-in-the-making dream, vision, and intricately curated project. According to Lopez, it had to be good, it had to be her, and it had to capture the very essence of the hallmarked "J.Lo glow." 

"I want people to know that this is deeply meaningful for me, that it’s personal," the star explains in a press release. "I’ve made my own life better by making it more beautiful, by making it more simple. And now, I want to share what I’ve learned with women everywhere. You want to know how I got my skin, how I look this way? This is how. This is how I live my life, and it’s pretty simple.”

In fact, the resounding inspiration for the line is directly correlated with Lopez's longtime beauty mantra featuring the five S’s: sleep, sunscreen, serum, supplements, and sano. Inspired by the Spanish phrase vivir sano, Lopez explains that she has always committed to living a healthy, sane life, which, for her, means no drinking, no smoking, eating healthy, exercising, and drinking lots of water. Of course, we can't all be J.Lo, but her signature lifestyle philosophies directly informed each and every formula within her new brand, along with an old family beauty secret: olive oil.

"My mom used to say that olive oil was the cure-all for everything," shares Lopez. "And it’s a secret I’ve used over the years because it really does work. So when we went to do this, that was the first thing I said: It has to have olive oil extract as a basis.”

To maximize the beautifying effects of her favorite ingredient, Team JLo Beauty devised a unique hero Olive Complex you'll find laced throughout the line that was carefully composed with a four-part olive blend featuring squalane, fermented oil, extra-virgin oil, and leaf.

Even though JLo Beauty won't officially launch on the brand's website until January 1 (and Sephora and Amazon on January 14), we're revealing every product you can anticipate in the meantime. Leave it to J.Lo to take a rather boring beauty staple, like a cleanser, and transform it into the antithesis of basic. Rich and creamy, this gentle cleanser can be used morning, night, or both and ensures a super-clean finish sans stripping or drying.
