I Scrolled Through Thousands of New-In High Street Buys—These 6 Trends Stood Out
Good news: the weather is on the turn. Sure, we're not whipping out the factor 50 just yet, but with the brighter days and earlier sunrises, our minds are firmly set on spring 2024. As shopping experts, we know that the most versatile and hardest-working wardrobes rely upon a high-low mix, and lucky for us, the new-in sections of our favourite high-street stores are fully stocked with fresh arrivals. As ever, it’s my goal to bring shopping advice to you as concisely as possible, saving you scrolling time and highlighting the styles that are sure to prove themselves as worthy additions to your wardrobe.
So, what's on the cards for spring? High-street heavyweights from H&M to COS are celebrating the arrival of warm weather with linen heroes to add an airy lightness to our most trusted pieces, and if tailoring is your preference, there's an array of smart buys in spring-ready silhouettes and shades to salute the change in weather whilst retaining a polished edge throughout. Denim continues to be a key feature, and the new season brings fresh takes on the material, from waistcoats to crisp denim skirts.
With warmer days comes a chance to show a little leg, and the new drops are brimming with dresses for all occasions, from events to every day. Finally, pretty details accent collections, adding a sweet edge through broderie anglaise, drapery, smocking and bows. Plus, I was so impressed by the array of brilliant accessories on offer that I just had to add a few for you to see.
Keep scrolling to explore the six key spring trends I spotted on the high street.
1. LINEN STAPLES
H&M's best-selling linen trousers come in an array of shades.
A linen button-down is one of the most versatile additions to any spring wardrobe. Pair with everything from workwear tailoring to a swimsuit as a beachside cover-up.
The warmer days call for ease when getting dressed, and a jumpsuit in airy linen offers a ready-made outfit all in one.
2. UPDATED DENIM
If jeans aren't your thing, there's still an array of ways to add versatile denim styles into your wardrobe, like this incredibly chic dress.
Trust Aligne to find a fun yet polished way to elevate denim.
When we think of denim skirts, straighter midi and maxi style tend to come to mind, but H&M is upping the game with this elegant A-line silhouette.
A break out best seller, COS keeps restocking these fluid denim trousers.
3. SMART BUYS
A joyful yet put-together addition to any wardrobe.
I've seen so many people wearing long floaty skirts recently, and I'm tapping into the trend with this elegant offering from Hush.
If you don't yet know about Abercrombie's brilliant tailoring, its time these were on your radar.
Opt for a linen composition to add breathability to your polished pieces.
4. SPRING DRESSES
Tank dresses are back for another year, and & Other Stories offers the style in versatile black as well as a sunny yellow shade.
From the soft puff sleeves to the smocked waist details and delicate blue shade, there's a lot to love about this Arket dress.
5. PRETTY DETAILS
Every detail of this top is just so right, from the pleated, corset-like waist to the delicate bow closures.
An easy throw-on dress doesn't have to be boring. Add depth with a bold shade and intricate embroidery details.
A "nice top" that will go with everything from jeans and tailoring to denim skirts and more.
Broderie anglaise shirts are flying off the shelves at H&M, and its easy to see why.
6. ACCESSORIES
When it comes to brilliant footwear, I've already proclaimed my adoration of these elegant ballet flats.
Basket bag season is almost upon us, and I particularly like the contrasting black leather details against the straw base.
H&M brings back these timeless sandals every year, and now you'll find them in an array of colours from metallics to classic neutrals.
