It's not uncommon here at the Who What Wear offices to extol French style and the inspiring women who embody it. And at the top of our crush list sits Caroline de Maigret. The iconic model, muse, and Parisian trendsetter constantly inspires us. But we were recently pleasantly surprised to find out fashion admiration goes both ways across the pond.
While we've come to consider de Maigret's look decidedly French, she suggests otherwise. In the March issue of InStyle, she states, "It turns out I'd been tricked. When I took a moment to really consider the key pieces of my wardrobe—a white shirt, jeans, a moto jacket, and white sneakers—I realized, for the first time, that my uniform was quintessentially American." Though she adds her own special je ne sais quois, it seems the current French-girl uniform is actually straight from the U.S.
