If you spend any time scrolling through Pinterest and Instagram, you're probably well aware that certain engagement ring trends seem to pop up more frequently than others. But how much do you really know about what people are buying? Refinery29 reported on data compiled by jeweler Brilliant Earth, and the results are fascinating.
To come up with its findings, the jeweler analyzed over 30,000 data points. Our favorite tidbits we gleaned? Brilliant Earth looked at shopping behavior by state, and the statistics revealed that "California wins for biggest diamond purchases based on average carat size. Runners-up include Washington, D.C., Massachusetts, New York, and Nevada."
Plus, according to the Refinery29, the study showed that there's one non-traditional trend that's picking up steam: colored gemstones instead of diamonds. "Many millennials want a distinctive engagement ring to express their personal style and values," Beth Gerstein, Brilliant Earth's co-CEO, explained to the site.
