When you think of big-name models like Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, and Christy Turlington, the word "supermodel" comes to mind. The '90s icons are unforgettable for their countless runways appearances and campaigns. Fast-forward to present day, and the darlings of the fashion world include Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid.
There have been a lot of comparisons as of late between today's crop of It-girl models (namely Kendall Jenner) and the supermodels of the '90s, and who better than Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour to weigh in on the subject? In the latest Vogue podcast, Wintour discussed the magazine's September issue, which stars Kendall as its cover girl.
"In a way, [Jenner's] chameleonlike abilities remind me of the great Linda Evangelista, in that she can take on all of these different characters," Wintour said. Well, one thing is for sure: Kendall has an affinity for off-duty style inspired by Kate Moss, so in our eyes, she was destined to be a supermodel.
