It's 7:45 p.m. Your blind date is at 8:30, and you have yet to settle on your outfit. We've all been there, frantically trying (and rejecting) just about every option in our closets. Why is it that the moment you want to dress to impress, you hate everything you own?

You probably have butterflies in your stomach about the date already, so worrying about your outfit is just one more thing that adds to the uneasiness that may come with the occasion. One thing you can do to calm your nerves is stick to a uniform that's been pre-approved by someone with experience in the art of first-date dressing. So we turned to Nikki Lewis and Greta Tufvesson, co-founders of matchmaking service The Bevy. The duo are pros who know exactly what to wear—and what to avoid—when you're heading to a blind date.

"Confidence is key and is always in style on your first date," Lewis says. "Wear something that makes you feel beautiful."
