Lena Dunham on the Inspiring Power of Supportive Men

Meghan Blalock

If you're a fan of the #LeanIn movement started by Facebook executive Sheryl Sandberg, then the latest news from her camp is probably going to excite you. Sandberg has partnered up with the NBA for a new campaign she's calling "Lean In Together," which is aimed at encouraging men to support their female partners as they embark upon their careers.

To promote the message, Sandberg recruited some major female powerhouses to talk about how encouragement from their fathers had a huge impact on their success in life. Think: presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton, former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Rent the Runway co-founder Jennifer Hyman, and Girls creator and writer Lena Dunham.

"My father is a big source of advice," Dunham says of her father's support over the years. "He always said, 'You should go where there's a you-shaped hole in the world.'"

Watch the inspiring video above, and we'd love to hear your input: How did YOUR father impact your life and career? Sound off below!
