Poppy Delevingne Wore the Chicest Hairstyle You Probably Didn't See Last Night
Last night's Met Gala did not disappoint in the beauty department, and we're still dreamily hungover from the high of glitter, hair dye, feathers, jewels, and every other whimsical accessory adorning the strands and complexions of the A-list attendees. The gala is truly like witnessing a live-action art exhibit which bodes beautifully for our wildest beauty fantasies but not, perhaps, our day-to-day hair-and-makeup aesthetic. Of course, some celebs get more into the theme than others, and while her sister Cara went all-out Camp in rainbow-candy-striped Dior Haute Couture, Poppy Delevingne kept things slightly more subdued (yet still very stunning) in a Dundas jumpsuit layered with a sparkling gold robe. Oh, and a super-chic chignon.
Old-school styles like chignons and French twists have had an excitedly fresh resurrection this year, and Delevingne and celebrity hairstylist Laura Polko churned the momentum with the model's sleek, perfectly polished chignon last night. Yes, it's a gorgeous look for the red carpet, but we also envision it as the ultimate summer hairstyle—easily transitioning from office to pool to drinks to gym—or wherever your summer festivities take you.
Lucky for us, Polko gave us an exclusive backstage pass to her styling process, complete with essential products, an easy how-to, and lots of gorgeous photos. Keep scrolling for the full scoop from Polko!
The Look
The How-To
Step 1: Section Off the Hair
"Starting with wet hair, create a deep part and section the front two sections on either side of the part. (T3’s new Clip Kit is for perfect sectioning!)"
Step 2: Prep for Smoothness & Dry
"Start in the back of the head with a small round brush and the Cura Luxe Hair Dryer to create shine. The ions emitted from the dryer make such a difference! Also, make sure to use a mousse to prep for the hold and sleekness."
Step 4: Pin & Pony
"With the hair dryer, work the airflow up the head and then up the sides and around the part going up and directing hair down with a swoop in the front with the round brush. Hold the style with no-crease pins, and then brush hair into a low bun and secure with Scünci’s clear elastics!"
Step 5: Pin the Bun and Spray
"Split the bun in two, and roll the top part towards the left and pin and the bottom towards the right and pin. Be sure the sectioning is even. Finish with hair spray and clean up all around the hairline."
