NYC Girls Are Buying These Nordstrom Picks in Droves, So I Tried Them Too
Last week saw the opening of Nordstrom’s biggest flagship store in New York City—spanning over seven floors of the Central Park Tower in Midtown Manhattan and featuring 320,000 square feet of the chicest clothing, accessories, shoes, and beauty products from practically every major designer under the sun. Suffice to say I had to see the sartorial wonderland for myself!
Thanks to Nordstrom’s long-term partnership with Alaska Airlines, the airline flew me and a select number of guests on a seriously incredible, cushy, and fun charter flight from L.A. to NYC for the grand opening. Fashion-obsessed New Yorkers and celebrities (Anna Wintour, Katie Holmes, and Karlie Kloss, to name a few) showed up in droves to see and shop the beautifully curated store with its concept shops exclusive to NYC, such as the Nordstrom x Nike boutique, the Nordstrom Beauty Haven, and the Burberry x Nordstrom curated collection.
There's no doubt I had a close eye on the pieces NYC girls were eyeing, trying, and buying in abundance at the store—and naturally, I tried them for myself. With the cooler East Coast temps, it’s not surprising plush jackets, coats, and sweaters were a big hit, along with of-the-moment pleated skirts, and effortless long-sleeve dresses. Scroll below to see the popular pieces I tried at Nordstrom’s flagship store that NYC girls are loving right now.
A favorite among the street style set at NYFW, New Yorkers can't get enough of the clean and contemporary silhouettes of Nanushka's pieces. This luxe shirt jacket was getting plenty of attention for its gorgeous lilac hue and its unique details. It's an investment piece that'll invite major compliments.

I'm still floored at how luxuriously soft this cozy sweater feels for its $75 price tag. It has a beautiful relaxed fit and a chic mock neck that is perfect to wear with tailored trousers for work and skinny jeans on the weekends.

A pleated skirt is a must in every New Yorker's closet right now—super chic for work when paired with tall boots. This one in particular is made of faux leather, which makes it look and feel super expensive. It also happens to be from New Yorker @blaireadiebee's exclusive collaboration with Nordstrom's in-house brand, Halogen.

Every New Yorker needs a trusty quilted puffer jacket for those crisp days. This khaki green one is super versatile—perfect over a sweater on pleasant autumnal days and an ideal layering piece under heavy winter overcoats once the temps start to drop.

NYC girls know the power of a basic black long-sleeve top that will pair with everything from jeans to midi skirts—and take you from day to night with ease. This Leith black bodysuit was extremely popular at the NYC store. It's deep and wide square neckline is super flattering and the fabric is stretchy, silky soft, and surprisingly luxurious-feeling.

Muted neutrals are the backbone of a chic fall and winter wardrobe—this cowl-neck sweater has a gorgeous oatmeal hue and is CRAZY soft. It drapes beautifully with a relaxed fit. I'll be wearing mine with matching beige jeans for a luxe look.

Houndstooth and check wool blazers are extremely popular at Nordstrom right now, and New Yorkers are buying them in droves. Get your hands on a chic one to wear with your leather pants, jeans, and skirts this season.

High-neck blouses that exude a bourgeoisie aesthetic are trending hard right now—and New York girls were all over these blouses at the Nordstrom opening. A plethora of ladies was trying this gorgeous Victorian-inspired blouse that has major Chloé vibes (without the hefty price tag).

If you haven't gotten yourself a leather piece in your wardrobe yet, now's the time—the trend is here to stay into next year as well. New Yorkers were gravitating to chic black separates such as this easy-to-wear midi skirt (that feels like butter!). Just add boots and a relaxed-fitting sweater to complete your fall look.

Looking for a cozy yet chic top to wear to Thanksgiving this year? This is your match. The soft, fuzzy texture feels incredibly plush, and the square neckline and puff shoulders add a chic and romantic touch. It's available in this lovely rust color in the NYC store and burgundy and ivory hues online.

New York girls are all about long-sleeve dresses right now for the colder season ahead, and this effortless one from Tibi is a definite hit. It's effortless yet polished and looks great paired with soft brown knee-high boots and a trench. The trendy pistachio hue is super on-trend right now.

While New Yorkers may be drawn to black and gray, they're certainly not resisting the hot pink hues that are trending right now. This super-soft fitted sweater by J.Crew will look chic under a gray check blazer.
Obsessed is an understatement. This faux-fur coat by Italian brand Seventy is seriously luxurious, sophisticated, warm, and cozy. Before you get too excited, it is only available to buy at the New York store (but you can order it over the phone!). This one below is a similarly chic option.

This gorgeous red jacket by Something Navy has major Chanel vibes and is perfect for work and upcoming holiday festivities. Again, this one isn't available online, but lucky New Yorkers can snag it at the flagship store.
