There’s something to be said for cool-weather style. The layering, the accessories, the colour palette. It’s all so inspiring. Melbourne style is all about dark hues and layering (what a cliché, but visit in winter and you’ll see it’s true). Each season I create a Pinterest board and plan out how I see my wardrobe for the months ahead (I highly recommend doing this, mainly because it’s fun). For me, autumn is going to be about the ’70s. Unsurprising, but it’s all in the way you style it.
Tonight, Kookai presented it’s A/W 16 collection in Melbourne, and to help you get inspired for the season ahead, I asked Melbourne’s best-dressed fashion bloggers how they’re styling pieces from the collection.
"The black skirt is probably one of the most versatile wardrobe additions. Dress it up or dress it down. For this incredible car-wash skirt, I would keep things simple and chic, styling with a classic white silk blouse, worn tucked in, (a few buttons undone), fine gold jewellery, a bold red lip and a striking strappy stiletto heel to really draw attention to the peek-a-boo skirt splits. For an easy day look, I'd simply tuck in an oversized grey tee, and finish off with my favourite Saint Laurent white sneakers. Voila!"
"Ugh, I can't get enough of over-the-knee lace-up boots at the moment! My favourite way to wear them is by throwing it back to the 70s and pairing with a floaty long-sleeve Zimmermann maxi and piled on jewels. Stevie Nicks would be proud."
