No, Not Jeans—It Girls Everywhere Will Be Wearing These Spring Pants, Skirts, and Shorts Outfits Instead
When the weather finally starts to get warmer, it's easy to default to some familiar looks. White T-shirt and jeans! A polka dot slip dress! A peasant skirt and strapless top! But that also makes it easy to get into an outfit rut. Why experiment when you could just reach for the reliable, simple items in your wardrobe that are particularly suited for spring? I know in that first stretch of 70-degree days, I always wear my Rixo dress. It's not bad to have go-tos! But I do quickly get quite bored with falling back on the same outfit formulas.
If you're feeling similarly, I've rounded up a handful of simple but more exciting outfit ideas from some of the most stylish people on the internet. While they're easy to recreate with only two things, they still feel a little bit more out-of-the-box than what you'd probably gravitate towards.
Cargo pants and red ballet flats:
What really makes this unexpected duo work is how they're the complete opposite of one another. The ballet flats are hyper elegant, especially in a particularly romantic shade of bright red. The cargo pants are far more edgy and help add a more utilitarian vibe that contrasts so nicely with the flats.
LBD and funky patterned socks:
Patterned knee-high socks are a fun accessory, but it's hard to decide when to wear them because they aren't suited for most weather forecasts. The transitional period, when it's quite warm during the day but then a little chilly at night, makes them ideal to wear in April and March. Pair with an LBD for a punk look that's quick to pull together.
Sheer skirt with a statement belt:
Sheer skirts are a standout spring trend for some time now, but due to their sheerness, they can often feel like they're missing something (quite literally!). A funky statement belt looks great and helps really tie the look together while adding a nice pop.
Silk pants and butter-yellow sandals:
Pajama dressing doesn't have to stop just because cozy season is over. If anything, now is the perfect time to lean into the more relaxed vibe of silky pants. Butter-yellow heels are a perfect match for the look, and truly create an aesthetic that's delicious to look at.
Plaid dress and heeled flip-flops:
If you're going to wear a dress, consider one in plaid instead of polka dots. The pattern often gets relegated to a winter or fall wardrobe, but it looks just as good in the warmer seasons! Keep it looking springy with a pair of flip-flop heels.
Sports jersey with patterned leggings:
This is definitely the funkiest look on the list, but hear us out: It's the perfect mix of sporty and girly. Sports jerseys are so fun to wear, especially when you consider that the World Cup is rapidly approaching, but it's more fun to pair them with something other than denim shorts. A pair of girly leggings covered in little cartoons or bows keeps the fangirl look super playful.
