Breaking News From the Streets of L.A., Paris, and NYC: Everyone's Carrying This New Designer Bag
Meet the day-to-night shoulder bag that fashion insiders are quickly gravitating toward.
When Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez left Proneza Schouler to join Loewe in April 2025, they arrived with a clear point of view. As the house's new creative directors, the duo wasted no time putting their stamp on the brand, balancing playful craftsmanship with pieces that felt polished, modern, and easy to wear. Their spring/summer 2026 debut collection offered plenty of noteworthy moments, from layered button-down shirts to sporty jackets, but the accessories stole the show. Leading the charge was the Amazona 180, a fresh take on Loewe's iconic Amazona Bag. This bag quickly became an It item when it launched in February and was coveted by celebrities. But that's only part of McCollough and Hernandez's story of designing heavy hitters in the bag department.
For Loewe's F/W 26 collection, McCollough and Hernandez introduced a new bag. This time, it was not a reinvention of something from the archive. It was entirely fresh and distinct. It is known as the Whisker, and in less than three months since it became available to shop, it's already on track to become the next It bag. It's easy to see why.
The design strikes a clever balance between playful and sophisticated—emphasis on playful. As the name may suggest, the bag is meant to resemble a cat's whiskers, and it really does. You don't need your imagination to see it. The zipper pulls and long side tassels create what looks like a pair of floppy ears and a cat's whiskers.
This sense of ease extends to the construction. Crafted in soft, glazed leather and designed with structured folds, the Whisker has a supple quality that allows it to collapse naturally against the body. Like the Amazona 180, it features a structured handle, but the longer length makes it more comfortable to wear on the shoulder—even over a winter coat. The shoulder strap also has round button hardware that lets it hinge and move. McCollough and Hernandez really left no detail behind. The color range only adds to its appeal. It's available in everything from butter yellow and cherry red to black plaid and light-brown plaid.
Not surprisingly, the Whisker has already proven itself versatile, as shown by the first wave of celebrities who have carried the bag. It's been worn on the shoulder and paired with a pencil skirt and fitted blazer, as seen on Petra Collins, and tucked under the arm and worn as a clutch to dress up jeans and a leather jacket, as seen on Hannah Einbinder.
