The Best Sartorial Decision I Made All Year Was Switching to Chunky Sneakers
Sponsor Content Created With Zappos
Once a hardcore flats lover, I'm now embracing the chunky-sneaker trend. I'll admit it took me a few seasons to get on board, but I've officially converted to the comfy, albeit trendy, footwear style. It seems like social media agrees with me—my For You Page is inundated with influencers and fashion people wearing fun sneakers with polished outfits. Not to mention, Zappos just released a new line of sneakers from Brooks, appropriately named the Vibes Collection, all of which are playing a major role in my end-of-summer aesthetic. I'm currently styling the Ghost 15, a classic black sneaker with blue detailing, with my signature neutrals, but I'm also taking the plunge with a purple running shoe. Below, I've curated four outfits to wear with Brooks sneakers this season, so if you're searching for ways to style this trend, look no further.
Rogue Minimalist
Minimalists, please rise. I love timeless tailoring, crisp shirting, and simple accessories for a casual Sunday brunch or running errands. This outfit is incomplete without a pair of black sneakers, and the touch of blue on the Brooks sneakers pulls the look together. And before you call us out—yes we know these are mens sneakers but we couldn't resist. The sleek silhouette is perfect for a streamlined, minimalist look.
Days of Denim
You can't go anywhere without seeing someone in a denim maxi skirt, and I've joined the parade. Add a classic black tank top and a tote bag, and you've mastered "city chic." I'm finishing this casual look with the ultra comfortable Brooks Ghost 15 sneakers.
The Elevated Basic
The shoes are the main character of this look. The purple and mauve Brooks Launch 10 sneakers are the perfect combo of function and style. I'll be wearing them with light-wash jeans, a boxy T-shirt, and my matching purple tote.
Beach Darling
Summer is incomplete without a beach outfit. Here, we've got a color-block, crochet maxi cover-up, a classic gold bracelet, chunky tortoiseshell sunglasses, and the season's It accessory: a woven tote bag. The Brooks Adrenaline sneakers in a classic style add a casual feel to the look, and they're the perfect shoes to walk home in.
