There’s nothing like a white shirt, is there? It’s almost comforting how reliable it can be—easily worn with everything you own, from jeans to skirts and even smart track pants. It’s a blank canvas for accessories. I’m personally a fan of wearing a white shirt with big gold hoops or a vintage chain necklace or even both. But you can wear it with any colour or shape of earring, necklace or bracelet, and it will look polished and refined. (Just make sure it’s had a good iron.)
While a classic button-down is always a winner, 2020’s version of the white shirt is a little more exciting. Whether it’s an oversize collar, like Miu Miu’s or Ganni’s sold-out versions, or a puff-sleeve or even a tie-waist, so many white shirts right now have some little twist or detail. All you need to do is simply wear it tucked in to high-waisted jeans or under a jumper with the collar poking out. Of course, you can still go with bold accessories, too.
