These Are the Most Stylish Nail Colours to Wear in May, According to Celebrity Manicurists
Two nail pros reveal the manicure shades that are set to dominate this month.
May tends to feel like that in-between month, when blue skies lose their novelty, but lingering rain keeps summer just out of reach. It’s a seasonal limbo that’s reflected everywhere, particularly when it comes to nail trends.
So if you're already over spring pastels but not quite ready to dive into full-on summer brights, then, according to celebrity manicurist and resident nail artist at 180 Health Club, Ella Vivii, as well as Daisy Kalnina, founder of The Gel Bottle, these are the shades that strike that elusive in-between balance, being polished, fresh and just bold enough to feel like a shift.
Below, you’ll find Vivii and Kalnina's expert forecasts, plus a selection of our favourite spring nail colours to help you recreate the look. So, consider this your sign keep scrolling, and secure that May nail appointment now.
7 Stylish May Nail Colours 2026
1. Grape Juice
First up are these high-shine 'grape juice' nails. "We’re seeing sheer, cool-toned pinks rise in popularity, especially for those who love a very natural nail look," reveals Kalnina. The reason, believes Vivii, is that "these are gorgeous spring shades for the clean girls who want a healthy, effortless glow." Akin to your favourite highlighter or lip gloss, it's a fresh take on the glazed look and as Vivii puts it, "it just works".

2. Molten Silver
I love this mirror-finish silver that feels bright and joyous but doesn't look like it needs to be filed under December/Christmas. Vivii agrees, revealing that "silver is always a favourite of mine. I created this look for Olivia Dean's O2 shows as a silver chrome, and it was absolutely stunning in the spotlight." Want to copy the look at your next salon appointment? Vivii built the look using The Gel Bottle Rubber Base, The Gel Bottle Demure BIAB, The Gel Bottle Extreme Shine Top Coat and The Gel Bottle Mirror Chrome, adding: "It catches the light beautifully and goes with everything."

People won't believe this Essie polish isn't gel—the finish is that good.
3. Grey Green
Greens for spring are moving into a darker, moodier direction, which is great for those who want something richer than the usual fresh pastels, without losing that seasonal connection to nature. "These richer tones feel modern and more elevated, adding depth to a manicure or pedicure while still tapping into a natural, earthy colour story," explains Kalnina.
For Vivii, they communicate luxury. "It's spring-friendly but still carries a depth that feels sophisticated; it's a beautiful step away from the deep reds of winter."

4. Pearlescent Pink
Consider this your understated statement. A shade that offers dimension but crucially without excess. “This is such a playful shade to work with. The pearly sheen shifts with the light, so you get a different look indoors versus out in the sun," reveals Vivii. It's all the fun of colour without the commitment of going bold.

5. Gummy Bear Chrome
There's something uber cool and unique about this gummy bear yellow chrome. It's super juicy thanks to the zesty lemon, but the layer of silver chrome over the tops gives it an edgy vibe that feels fresh and different for spring.

6. Low-Key Coral
You've officially got the go-ahead for coral. "It's the perfect transitional shade," Vivii and Kalnina both tell me. "It bridges soft spring tones and the brighter colours we see in summer. It instantly adds warmth to the nail and feels uplifting after the cooler months."

7. Ketchup Red
Ketchup brings that classic red energy, but with a softer edge that feels just right for now. "Tomato red leans into summer brights without tipping into neon, so it still feels familiar and wearable. The perfect red to transition you into the warmer months," explains Vivii.
