5 Ankle Boots All Our Fashion Friends Are Wearing in 2020
In the Northern Hemisphere, autumn officially starts on the 22nd of September, but we’ve been wearing boots since the end August if we're being totally honest. And we've got many months of boot-wearing ahead of us—I wager six month’s worth of solid stomping time. The biggest of all of the boots is undeniably the ankle boot—it is the easiest style to wear with everything in your wardrobe. Great with jeans, dresses and skirts, it is usually the one item in your wardrobe you can guarantee you’ll get a lot of wear out of during the colder months. Which is why deciding on which one you want to invest in is important. How do you know which boot will have longevity in terms of your own personal style as well as ticking the on-trend box?
This is where we come in. As we spend an inordinate amount of time shopping as well as looking at the latest trends, not to mention constantly looking at what people are genuinely buying (from Who What Wear readers to influencers), we have a pretty good understanding of what’s going to make the cut when it comes to ankle boots trends for the rest of 2020.
This year, it’s all about interesting silhouettes, pared-back aesthetics (tapping into that minimalist trend) as well as sticking with some of the most-loved trends from 2019. There are of course brands leading the way too such as Khaite and Bottega Veneta, although less expensive options are available too. Ready to see what trends we’re backing for 2020? Keep scrolling…
TRACK SOLES
Thanks to Bottega, The Row and Prada, track sole boots are easily one of the biggest trends for the year. If the designer prices are a little out of your reach, Arket does a brilliant pair too.
SUEDE
Thanks to brand of the moment, Khaite, suede boots are firmly back on our shopping list.
MINIMALIST
There’s no escaping the fact that minimalism is back in a big way for 2020–and this extends to ankle boots too. Try pared-back walking, Chelsea and sock boots in black or beige for a chic way to wear this trend.
STOMPER
Ah, DMs. They were worn by everyone at the end of last year. The stomper lace-up boot is a real classic, but this year it’s back with a vengeance. Whether you opt for Dr. Martens or wear a designer take, there are plenty of options.
SQUARE TOE
Much like a lot of trends in fashion right now (leather, minimalism etc) Bottega Veneta is responsible for this particular ankle boot trend: the square toe. There are other equally as chic alternatives however including from Jimmy Choo and Zara.
Next up, the biggest autumn/winter 2020 fashion trends to know.
