The Suit That Will Be Everywhere in 2020

Fashion month has just wrapped, and there is plenty to report about new trends that will be everywhere in spring 2020. One trend I predict will make a big impact is the fresh take on suiting that was seen everywhere on the runways. Designers from Burberry to Marc Jacobs to Louis Vuitton (and more) made a case for the trend and showcased three-piece suits finished with buttoned vests paired with blazers and trousers or long shorts.

This move steps away from the current oversize-suit trend, instead heading toward more refined pieces with sleeker lines and sharper tailoring. The double-breasted blazers of the last few seasons gave way to single-breasted versions so vests were visible underneath. Ahead, see how three-piece suits were styled on the S/S 20 runways and then shop pieces inspired by the looks.

Burberry made a strong case for a beige tonal outfit. Take a styling note from the show and wear this look with a tan button-down layered underneath.

We saw plenty of suiting with shorts on the runway, including this version from Max Mara. Knee-high socks are the perfect way to finish off the look.

Many other designers stuck to one fabrication for their three-piece suits, but at Louis Vuitton, it was all about mixed prints.

Leave it to Marc Jacobs to bring bold color to the runway, like this stunning canary yellow suit. If you want to wear this exact look, you can pre-order it below.

There is nothing more classic than head-to-toe whites as seen at Etro. Here, the three-piece suit is styled with an open jacket and vest unbuttoned at the bottom.
