When she’s not working with big names like Lupita Nyong’o, Constance Wu, and Diane Kruger or writing a best-selling book, celebrity stylist Micaela Erlanger divulges her fashion expertise in our Ask a Stylist column. From the best places to source vintage to the secret to finding your most flattering jeans, come back each week for a professional’s perspective.

While we wrapped one of the last red carpets of the year with the People’s Choice Awards, right off the bat in 2019 we’ll kick off the year with the Golden Globes and SAG Awards. Translation: I’m already busy prepping and working with my clients on their looks for the upcoming red carpets. Last year I pulled as many gowns and pieces as I could from Monse as it was the new brand on the red carpet block, and don’t get me wrong—Monse is still one of my favorite brands to dress my clients in—but next year I’m excited to see designs from Michael Halpern on the red carpet. The London-based designer is sure to blow up next year, with its intricate beading work and strong silhouettes. I’m personally pumped to see celebs wear the extra-glamorous pieces from Halpern and look forward to the brand being in the spotlight. As for my two runners-up, I’d have to say Sies Marjan and new Celine (a polarizing opinion, I know) will make their way on several red carpets in 2019. Get to know some of the best looks from Michael Halpern below.
