Have you been following the amazing red carpet looks at this year's Venice Film Festival? Lily-Rose Depp stole the show in Chanel Haute Couture, while Iman chose a memorable Valentino Haute Couture feathered number. But the dramatic red carpet looks aren't the only great fashion moments coming from the festival. Celebrities are also photographed en route to more laid-back events, and Penélope Cruz's denim look, in particular, caught our eye.

Cruz teamed a posh red blazer and classic quilted Chanel bag with two items you may or may not have worn in 2003: light-wash flared jeans and platform flip-flops. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: What's old is new again. Cruz made her Paige Genevieve Flare Jeans in North Star Distressed ($229) and flip-flops look impossibly chic and even film festival–worthy, so you might want to consider copying this look for fall. Scroll down to see how she styled the pieces, and shop her jeans for yourself.

Erin Fitzpatrick
Senior News Editor

Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 12 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of senior news editor (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
