The Quiet-Luxury Colour So Many Coronation Guests Wore—Including Pippa Middleton

When it comes to colors, some just look more expensive than others. It's a fact. With the quiet-luxury aesthetic still commanding much of fashion right now, it should come as no surprise that the looks we saw at today's coronation reflected that in some way.

We couldn't help but notice that many of the guests in attendance opted for perhaps the color most synonymous with the notion of quiet luxury; butter yellow. This is a hue we've already highlighted in our autumn/winter 2023 trend report, which outlines the key looks for the season ahead. As featured in the collections of Givenchy, Tove, Molly Goddard, Christopher Kane, and countless more, this pretty hue is set to be big news in the months to come.

What's special about this shade is the fact that it suits a multitude of skin tones and hair colors, with its delicate tone loaning itself to so many outfit pairings. At the coronation, we saw it by way of elegant dresses, styled with matching hats and fascinators. However, there are an endless array of options on how you can wear it day-to-day, too. For now, see how guests styled it on the day.

Style Notes: Sister of Catherine, Princess of Wales, Pippa Middleton attended the coronation in a delicate yellow frock coat, which perfectly matched her sculptural headpiece. We'd expect nothing less.

Style Notes: Queen Rania of Jordan, accompanied by her husband, King Abdullah II of Jordan, also opted for a buttery shade, which looked elegant and timeless.
