It's safe to say that the fashion world has never seen anything quite like the runway show–“Pageant of the People" hybrid that Opening Ceremony presented last night in celebration of its S/S 17 collection. Portlandia stars Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein emceed the politically themed show, and celebrities such as Rashida Jones and Aubrey Plaza were among the models. Whoopi Goldberg closed the show, and each of the participating celebrities made speeches about topical issues. Designers Humberto Leon and Carol Lim are known to never opt for a conventional runway show and this was no exception.
The bold, playful collection was a knitwear lover's dream, and proved that current trends like ruffles, bold stripes, and sheer pieces are here to stay. (We're currently obsessing over the off-the-shoulder ruffled top.)
