In the space of a year, the Mulberry show has become one of the most hotly anticipated of the London Fashion Week schedule. Why? The announcement of a new creative director in 2015 continues to keep the industry abuzz: Johnny Coca may not be a name you’re familiar with, but it’s one you should start getting used to. This is the man behind many of Céline’s hit bags of the previous few years, and he also cut his teeth at Louis Vuitton and Bally. So far, so super impressive. Only two full seasons in and already he can lay claim to a new Mulberry must-have—the nifty little Clifton bag has been popular amongst the street style set—plus, the ready-to-wear clothes are notching up photo shoots as well as wardrobe space.

It’s a big turnaround for the British heritage brand, and a far cry from the safe and cosy associations one may have with their traditional leather-goods of yesteryear. The cool-over continued at a rapid pace today within a disused print-works factory in a remote part of London: Vetements stylist/muse Lotta Volkova handled the perfect assemblage of the looks, and Coca—in addition to generating much, much more—took one of the house’s most recognisable It bags and scaled it up to gargantuan proportions. You couldn’t not stare at it in amazement.

We've recently noticed supersize totes as a status symbol again (think of those Balenciaga Bazar shoppers), but this takes the all-but-the-kitchen-sink biscuit. Meet the Bayswater Piccadilly: massive, shot through with a collegiate striped scarf or leather paneling, and carried with an arm scooped around—like in a big protective cuddle.

Admittedly, our wish list wasn’t restricted to this one item: The slip-on curved-heel mules were a great call for any discerning shoe collector; shockingly bright silk, or heavily beaded and ruffled dresses would be wonderful for a wedding; natty school-boyish tailoring would look rather tasty with a pair of jeans; and the quirky bricolage jewellery was calling out to be Instagrammed u -close.
