Kate Middleton Wore the Designer Version of Everyone's Favorite Grandma Trend

Given that Kate Middleton has to follow a pretty conservative dress code, it's not surprising that she's embracing the season's grandma trends (whether on purpose or not). One of our favorites that really took off last year is the tweed trend, which was worn by Jennifer Lopez, among many others. The lovely thing about tweed is that it's quite accessible (i.e., it's available at brands from Mango all the way up to Chanel). But Middleton is a duchess, so she went the designer route with her Dolce & Gabbana skirt suit today for a children's hospital visit in London.

What kept Middleton's tweed look youthful and modern was the fact that the skirt was skater-style with a shorter hemline, and she chose shoes with a high block heel (as opposed to traditional stilettos). If you're looking for a more casual way to style the trend, try a cropped tweed jacket or blazer with loose-fit jeans and mules. Your grandma and your most stylish friend will both compliment you.
