Princess Kate Just Wore the Expensive-Looking Winter Outfit Editors Love

Looking elevated every single time you step out of the door is no small feat, but it's something that Catherine, Princess of Wales, manages to do on the regular. Whether she's re-wearing her favorite & Other Stories jeans with a chic blazer or treating us to another impeccable red carpet ensemble (which, if you follow her glitzy track record, likely involves The Vampire's Wife or Alessandra Rich dresses), she looks polished at every turn.

Further proof of this theory was evidenced today when Kate visited Scarborough alongside her husband, Prince William, during which they met with a young people’s mental health organization and a community-focused organization, both of which are funded in partnership with The Royal Foundation. While I can think of so many of her impressive looks from the archives, this one might be up there amongst my favorites.

Opting for a timeless Max & Co camel coat, Kate masterfully matched the rest of her outfit to it to create a high-end finish. This, in the fashion industry, is called monochroming—wearing one shade top-to-toe—and is the very styling trick editors and influencers use when they want to look expensive and put together.

Underneath it, she wore a knitted midi, which just so happens to be our favorite dress style to wear at this time of year, which she then finished with pieces we've seen before—a handbag from DeMellier and heels from Ralph Lauren. New in this outfit mix, however, is a belt from the affordable Brit brand, Boden, but I have no doubt it won't be the last we see of it now that it's been inaugurated into Catherine's wardrobe.

She accepted, leaving university a year early in the process. Her passion and natural talent for writing and styling meant she swiftly rose through the ranks to become the title's fashion news and commercial content editor, with a stint as InStyle.co.uk’s fashion and beauty writer along the way. She later served as Look’s acting Editor in Chief, overseeing both print and digital, before embarking on a successful freelance career, working with Grazia, The Pool, and Marie Claire amongst others.
