Plain Ugg boots? So last season! Creative director of Moschino and designer of his own eponymous line Jeremy Scott wants you to embrace a newer version of the classic winter boot that's louder, more vivacious, and unlike anything you've ever seen.
Yes, you read the correctly. In one of the most polarizing of "high-low" collaborations we've ever seen, the king of pop culture couture just collaborated with the Australian comfort brand.
Whether you're a longtime fan of the cozy footwear brand or think that fashion has little to do with them, we can bet you'll have a strong opinion on the byproducts of this unlikely collaboration.
True to form, the designer pulled from the pop culture influences that surround him every day when thinking about the boots' design. Scott wanted to blend a "couture element, that's very red carpet, but onto something that’s so cozy and quotidian."
There's certainly something so unexpected about the combination of Ugg boots and colorful jewel embroidery. What's more, the flame boots come in two color ways: classic and encrusted with Swarovski crystals. For Scott, this collaboration is the "ultimate dichotomy of these two worlds."

While we don't think we'll be seeing too much of the boots on the red carpet per se, we can totally see how Scott sought to "expand the imagination of where you could wear them." Let's just say a crystal-embellished boot with red hot flames won't be reserved for getting to your early morning yoga class anymore. With Old English font spelling out "Ugg Life" on a pair of short classic boots, the vibe here is more streetwear than anything.
Another major influence for Scott was the cultural melting pot that is Los Angeles. "The history of the low-rider [car], the Latino/a culture, mixing with hip-hop culture," all come to play in the brand's campaign, which tapped musician Lil Yachty and model Jasmine Sanders. Feast your eyes on these anything-but-average Ugg boots and get your hands on a pair—the collab became shoppable today.
Jeremy Scott spoke to Who What Wear on August 24, 2017.
