Dispatch from SoHo: 4 J.Crew Shoes I Tried and Tested, and Which Ones Came Home With Me
Browse the best J.Crew shoes for winter 2026.
Whenever I'm in SoHo, I seek refuge in the Spring Street J.Crew. It's my heaven in the chaos of crowds. This visit, I was keen to try on all the shoe offerings. You might know J.Crew for their coats, but my friends know too well how I feel about this, and I believe J.Crew's shoe and accessory department is overlooked. More than ever, it needs your attention. The new arrivals and late-fall additions all deserve a spot in your shoe rotation.
I spent two hours in-store styling flats, boots, and loafers. But in the end, only one pair came home: the Bea Ballet Flats in Eel-Embossed Leather, $198. Read on to see why and shop J.Crew's slept-on shoe collection.

4 Editor-Approved J.Crew Shoes for Winter 2026
Bea Ballet Flats, $178
It shouldn't be a surprise that the Bea Ballet Flats came home with me. I have a weakness for chic ballet flats that are as comfortable as they are stylish. Since buying them, I've worn them more times than I can count. With little to no break-in period, these wine-colored, eel-embossed flats look great with light-wash jeans or wide-leg trousers. I highly recommend.
Shop the flats:
Western Ankle Boots, $298
ICYMI, fashion has been leaning a bit Western lately. I've spotted countless denim-on-denim looks and statement belt buckles. If you're contemplating participating, try out these Western ankle boots. Yes they look cool, but what's better they're comfortable too.
Shop the boots:
Winona Penny Loafers, $198
No J.Crew shoe try-on is complete without a preppy penny loafer. This timeless footwear comes in Italian spazzolato leather, cementing its spot on the winter shoe rack as a classic choice. You'd be smart to pair it with straight-leg jeans and a button-down top, topped with a Chiara Wool Overcoat, of course.
Shop the loafers:
Carolyn Boots, $298
In my editor's opinion, these boots are made to be worn with jeans. Bootcut jeans, to be specific. The stacked heel adds just the right amount of height while remaining comfortable to maneuver. The rounded-toe is sure to wear well once snow hits the NYC streets.
