This Is Officially the One Wedding Dress Style That Suits Every Single Figure
When Kate Halfpenny, one of the UK's coolest wedding dress designers, tells you here's one major trend taking off in the world of bridal, you listen. After all, the designer launched her eponymous label in 2005 and has a shop in Bloomsbury London.
She isn't led by trends herself, but that's part of the charm with Halfpenny's designs. Her dresses aren't classic cookie-cutter styles, which is apparent when you walk into the atelier and shop. Materials like lace and tulle silk all pop out at you in an array of different dresses styles, from big ball gowns to slinky slips.
What I really want to know, however, is which dress style is the most popular right now and which one suits peoples' figures the most. Without hesitating, Kate says fit-and-flare dresses. The style—which pretty much does exactly what it says on the tin—is one that will hug your derrière more than any other.
When I ask what the reason behind that is, there are several explanations. But Kate is clear that it's due to the nature of women's body shapes changing in our society. This isn't the first time I've heard this. The pronounced hourglass figure with fuller breasts and an enhanced behind was made popular by the Kardashians and Instagram (not to mention the emphasis on doing squats), and the fit-and-flare style makes the most of this look.
When it comes to shopping for this style, it quickly became apparent that there are plenty of brands that stock this look. But don't worry if you think you'll end up looking like every other bride—this silhouette can be worn in so many different types of gowns. From lace to silk and strapless to long-sleeved, the fit-and-flare dress might just be the wedding dress you've been looking for. Keep scrolling to shop the chicest ones around.
