Sorry, Capris—This Pant Style Is Overtaking You for Pant of the Summer
And you can wear it well into fall.
Capri pans this, capri pants that. What about bloomer pants? Bloomers are a similar length to capris, not quite long and not quite short, but don't get the same kind of fanfare. You can skip and frolic in a pair of bloomers! Capris on the other hand aren't really pants you can throw on on a whim because they're typically tighter and don't allow for the same sort of movement.
Bloomers have also been the sleeper pant of the summer, thanks to the Bohemian Chic revival brought about by Chemena Kamali's 60s-inspired Chloé. I've recently tested out the look, first with a light blue pair by Free People and then the pantaloons by Cou Cou intimates. I now find myself constantly gravitating towards them, whether it be for a casual dog walk or a dinner out with friends. I'm not even a particularly big pants person, but these give me the same kind of ease as a skirt.
And while they may seem more like a summer pant, they can easily work well into fall with a great sweater layered on top. They're also the perfect length for a great pair of chunky boots. So even if you didn't get the chance to pack them for a trip to Europe this summer, there's plenty more chances to wear the trend before it's everywhere.
