Not Sweatpants, Not Leggings: The Chic Pants Fashion People Wear to Work From Home
Shop cotton, taffeta, nylon, satin, and silk pairs from Leset, J.Crew, Gap, Cou Cou, and more.
This summer, one of the biggest trends was drawstring pants, often made of cotton. From editors I know personally to influencers I follow online, I kept seeing this style of pants everywhere. It's a wardrobe staple that feels incredibly easy to wear on repeat since the pants are so comfortable and effortless to throw on. I'm continuing to see them this fall.
I'm thinking of three specific pairs that went viral: Leset's Kyoto Pants, J.Crew's Luna Pants, and Gap's Poplin Easy Barrel Pants. I also have lightweight pants from Cou Cou that are the perfect work-from-home pants, and other brands I've been eyeing include Deiji Studios, Donni, and Pistola.
More recently, I started seeing spin-offs of the style, like Chan Luu's and Reformation's colorful taffeta styles and Made Some Sportswear's nylon pairs, and inevitably, silk and satin are popular in the fall and winter.
Associate fashion editor Nikki Chwatt also covered the trend, referring to it as a go-to in "every L.A. and NYC It girl's transitional wardrobe," and Executive Shopping Director Bobby Schuessler wrote about it as well, saying, "Sorry, jeans—this pant trend makes my work, travel, and weekend outfits just as chic."
