Emily Ratajkowski Weighs In on This So-Called Fashion Faux Pas

It's harder and harder to determine what constitutes a fashion faux pas today. And that's a very good thing. Pajamas are no longer meant solely for bed. Calling your friend's shoes "ugly" is kind of a huge compliment. And as Emily Ratajkowski shows us, black and brown are BFFs.

The two colors haven't always been the most obvious of combinations. They're both so dark, it makes sense to pair them with lighter shades for contrast or to wear solo. But not for Ratajkowski. Instead, in this latest look she's paired a light, printed Harley Viera-Newton Lily dress (now sold out, unfortunately) with a rich brown A.L.C. Blaine Studded Suede Jacket ($873) for an awesome contrast of color as well as texture. Plus, the brown suede actually gives the otherwise quite dark ensemble—which includes Gianvito Rossi Patent Leather Rolling High Booties ($995) and Céline handbag, both in black—more dimension.

Sure, some may still consider this pairing a big no-no, but we're sticking with Ratajkowski's neutral-on-neutral approach.

See how it's done below.
